Year 5 Update

This week the students have been busy working on their Greeks myths. They have been drafting, re-reading, reflecting and re-writing their stories. In maths, as well as working on our current unit, the students have also been competing in the Times Tables Rock Stars challenge. The students compete daily to complete a times table challenge, which is marked based on time taken and number of correct answers. As the month progresses we hope to see improved speed and accuracy. Students can progress from an 'unsigned act' to a 'rock hero!'

Our online maths program, My iMaths, has now been up and running for two weeks. Please check to make sure your child is keeping up to date on their assignments.

We are also fortunate enough to have a LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examiner coming to GIS next February.  We are therefore running a LAMDA club after half term offering Grade 1 in acting and Grade 2 in public speaking.  This is only open to Years 5 and 6 so please take this opportunity to complete the reply slip on the letter we sent home.  The cost for the examination is around 2,000 Baht.
